Sane Voices in the Arab World

Interesting Views by Syrian head of opposition (in exile, of course!)

He’s not the only one either. I know I have met my share of liberal, free thinking, left-winged Arabs and Muslims online and offline, who share my own distaste for both Hamas and the Jewish settlers of Hebron (same kind of people in my book).

I actually think there are some in Gaza who feel the same way. I hope so anyway.

Amidst the turmoil, I still believe that eventually maybe the sane voices in Israel and the sane voices in Muslim/Arab countries will be able to come together and unite against the Hamas, Hezbulla, the settlers of Hebron and the rest of the crazy war mongerers in this region.

After 69 years on this planet I have come to the conclusion that sane voices NEVER win. It seems that when the stronger crazy defeats or just wears out the weaker crazy, sanity may(emphasis on may) have a chance. (My crazy war… Vietnam)

At any rate I enjoied reading your blog.

It is the hope of all peace loving people both Israeli and Arab for peace to finally come to the region. The problem is that we something think peace will come from hope. Un fortunately those people who want peace are not in a position to produce it. Certainly not on the Arab side. Israel needs to make some hard concessions, but I think that can be accomplished at a real peace conforence. One where the Palistinians had representives that were no dedicated to the distruction of Israel. Fot a lasting peace to come to the Palistinians and the Jews, all the nations of the area must accept each other. They do not have to loev each othet. That will come in time when the Plaistinians see how Israel can be of such great help in medicine and so many other things.
