Sorry if this sounds too self-centered, but this really sucks. Right in the middle of the kids’ Hannuka Holiday?
I absolutely hate those phone calls too. Sigh. Flashbacks to the Lebanon war of 2006. I sure do hope this one won’t be as long. I doubt it though, with both sides prancing and making threats, like two male roosters fighting with all their feathers flashing.
Hammas promises “surprises”, presumably with longer range rockets. Israel doesn’t promise anything at this point – just delivers. It’s already very messy, with over 100 casualties on the Palestinian side. I guess large scale air strikes on heavily populated areas will do that. And it won’t end there. The general feeling is that you can’t talk to the Hammas – they will keep shooting rockets no matter what – so let’s try the other option of brute force.
Personally, I don’t think brute force is ever a good option. Somehow, I fail to see how this will make either the Palestinian leadership or the average Palestinian on the street prefer peace to war.
Sucks big time.

Its quite sad and I do hope with they can agree on another cease fire. Unfortunately, the rhetoric seems quite high with both sides insisting to prove their points.

I read about the fighting and I thought “Here we go again.” It’s hard to imagine how peace will ever come from all of this fighting. I hope they can resolve this situation soon so no one else has to die. I’ll keep you in our prayers.

I am sorry for what you are going through. I can’t imagine what it would be like to live under a constant threat of hostility and regular bombing and fighting. I would be a basket case, I think.
