Mom, Las Vegas Sucks

That’s Ron’s verdict after a couple of hours of wandering the casinos.  Well, he seemed pretty excited while we were downstairs at the lobby of the Excalibur, and then at MGM and New York hotels. Those were the only ones we went to. Frankly, I thought the kids looked intoxicated with all the lights, colors and sounds. Apparently, it was too much.

I confess, I’m not crazy about this place either. Not a huge surprise, I guess, but this place is really vulgar. The casinos stink of smoke and the various hotel attractions are way over the top. I mean, what’s the point in having a lioness on display in an indoors casino? Something decadent and bizzare about this place.

We haven’t seen much, but we already feel like we should be getting out of here. The hotel isn’t much fun either. So, the room at the excalibur has large flat screen TV. Woohoo. It doesn’t have any fridge, microwave or even tea or coffee facilities. In short, nothing to make you feel at home. It’s a recently refurbished room, so it looks all plush, but I don’t find it very welcoming, myself.

I guess I need to add some updates on our last days in San Diego and the last three days in Tucson. We had a great time, and I have lots of pictures to upload. I’m going to do an album on Picasa and link from here. I’ll probably post another post tonight. Oh, did I mention the wireless connection in the hotel comes at an extra $14 for 24 hours? So, I’ll try and make the most of it while we’re paying. May even start looking for alternatives to our next couple of days here in Vegas…

Las Vegas does suck! I’ve never been there and never care to go – I don’t care much for glitz and glamour and all those wasteful lights. What I find puzzling is that I know many Americans who absolutely LOVE going to Vegas. There’s a whole world out there to see, but they’d rather go to Vegas over and over. To each their own, I guess.
