Logging in from the airport in Tel Aviv.
It just took me over seven minutes to type seven words :p I can’t blame their connection either – this is solely from having to keep an eye on my two kids and explaining airport etiquette to them (for example, you’re not suppose to play with the macdonald’s toy by throwing it at passengers walking by).
The start of our journey was not unstressful. Trying to check-in our luggage with El Al, we found out that my passport is no longer valid. Yup, we prepared everything for this trip – everything – but forgot to check that all passports are valid. I was sent to the airport branch of the home office, where 15 minutes and $250 later they gave me a new passport.
Back to the El Al counter, to find that El Al’s famous overbooking is still very much in place. While the lines are still long with passengers waiting to be checked in – the flight is nearly all full. They couldn’t even give us four seats together – just 2+1+1. Very annoying, considering I had reserved seats… Fortunately, the guy in charge of the flight was kind enough to change that into two pairs of seats. Even more fortunately, we are actually on the flight. They did offer us compensation if we were to board the next flight to London which is leaving tomorrow morning. Being as we have a flight to catch in London at 10AM tomorrow morning, we refused their kind offer and opted for our original flight.
So, finally, we are past all the checking points and sitting here, sipping coke and waiting for our flight to start boarding, which should be in about 20 minutes.
I hope to be reporting again from London! Logging off now to save on battery.
