The American Dream

Well, it’s still a fantasy at this point, though growing more real as the days go by. Over the past couple of weeks, we’re getting serious about a trip to the US in 2009. I’ve never been to the US, and IsraeliDad only visited once, for a work seminar, so didn’t get to see too much. We’ll be going with both boys, so trying to plan a trip that will appeal to two young boys as well.

The general plan is the West Coast + a week in NYC. I posted a page about it, with our suggested plan – although it’s still very much open to changes!

I’ve been looking at traveling to the US myself. However, the whole visa process is just completely putting me off.

Your plan looks great! You and your family will definitely enjoy trip

Oh, I so know what you mean! When we first read about the VISA process (and the cost!), I was tempted to just let go of the whole idea. A zillion forms, then waiting in tons of security lines, and finally an interview – took the whole morning and wasn’t unstressful. We ended up going through with it, back when I was involved in some business negotiations which we thought might require a business visit to the US at some point. It’s why we went ahead with it. Now that we have the VISA, might as well make use of it.

Hi Anat, come and have a great time! I saw your San Diego plans and would be glad to fill in some details for you on some “nice secrets” to help get you to some off the beaten track, but worth it locations. If I can help with other areas or parks too like Yosemite, Sequoia, etc. let me know. I’ll write you separately about it. One site I strongly recommend and use all the time for our own US travels is TripAdvisor.com (I have no connection to it) but its been right on in terms of reviews every time about everything from hotels to restaurants. Definitely check it before booking hotels, etc. Have a safe trip! Jen
